Taking ownership of your dreams and achieve greatness

In 2024, I began my journey to become a life coach. Fueled by a strong desire to help women, I believed that my qualifications and eagerness would surely usher me to success. However, I soon realised that passion alone is not enough to turn dreams into reality. This journey brought numerous challenges and important lessons along the way. If you find yourself feeling stuck despite your big dreams, keep reading.

The Vision vs. The Plan

When I first started Ezer Life Coaching, I was full of enthusiasm and had a grand vision in mind. However, I lacked a concrete plan, which turned out to be one of my biggest mistakes. I kept convincing myself that everything would naturally fall into place over time. But that was not the case.

I spent countless hours creating content working with a content manager and building my online presence, yet I continually felt disconnected from my efforts. I reached a point where I felt hopeless because, in my mind, I had everything set up: a dream, a registered company, a bank account, a content manager, and all the necessary qualifications. I kept questioning myself: "Why isn't this succeeding? Why do I feel so lost?".

According to a study by the Small Business Administration, over 70% of small businesses fail due to a lack of a detailed business plan. I was unwittingly heading down this path.

Mistakes are part of any journey, but I strayed too far from my original goals. There came a time when I couldn’t even remember the reasons behind my dream.

If any of this resonates with you, I urge you to pause and reflect.

Why pause?

You could be drifting away from what you originally envisioned.

How to Get Back on Track

Step 1: Stop and Take a Break

Start by giving yourself permission to take a break and clear your mind. Reflect on why you began this journey. What inspired you to start? What were your original goals?

Step 2: Reassess with Courage

Taking a break to reevaluate does not equate to failure. It takes strength to step back and reassess your path. This process of revisiting your dreams is not a sign of weakness; rather, it shows commitment to your personal growth.

Step 3: Take Ownership

Make a conscious choice to take ownership of what you want to achieve. While advice from others can be helpful, never give up full ownership of your dream. Research from the Harvard Business Review reveals that people who take ownership of their goals are 33% more likely to achieve them. By keeping control, you maintain your focus and direction.

Step 4: Develop a Comprehensive Plan

Create a detailed business plan that outlines specific goals and a clear structure. Avoid the pitfall of thinking that things will simply work out. Statistics show that businesses with a written plan are 16% more likely to achieve their goals. This is because a structured approach helps to clarify your mission and aligns your actions with your objectives.

Embracing Your Journey

Taking ownership of my dreams has significantly changed my journey. Today, I feel more connected to my brand than ever before, and I am proud to be the owner of Ezer Life Coaching.

With this experience, I hope to encourage those feeling stuck or hesitant in pursuing their dreams. Remember, it's never too late to reassess your path and realign with your aspirations. You have the ability to take charge and shape the future you envision.

Adopt the steps necessary to reconnect with your ambitions and own your journey. If I can do it, so can you!
